Winnipeg, MB – At 9:14 a.m. on Friday, August 9, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews responded to reports of fire at a two-and-a-half-storey multi-family converted dwelling in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the structure. They entered the dwelling and launched an offensive fire attack, using hose lines to put the fire out. It was declared under control at 9:59 a.m.
Residents self-evacuated before crews arrived on scene. There were no injuries reported.
The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was called to assist the displaced residents find temporary accommodations.
The structure suffered smoke, water and fire damage. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction.
