Abduction – Arrest: C24-189985

On August 16, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., North District General Patrol officers responded to an abduction/kidnapping incident.

An adult male reported that he was at his residence in the first 100 block of Millpond Path on the evening of August 13 when he was confronted by two males, one of which is known to the male victim. The male victim was beaten and abducted. The male suspects drove him to an undisclosed location where he was sexually assaulted and had his cellular phone and passport taken from him. He was eventually released and subsequently called the police.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation, and as a result, a male suspect was identified.

Gurpreet VEHNIWAL, (34), of West St. Paul, has been charged with the following:

  • Robbery
  • Kidnapping
  • Sexual Assault - Firearm
  • Extortion
  • Break and Enter and Commit Robbery - Dwelling House
  • Break and Enter with Intent – Dwelling House
  • Attempt Obstruct Justice
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Careless Use of Firearm, Ammunition, Prohibited Weapon or Device

VEHNIWAL was detained in custody.

The Major Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation.
